Daniel Alan Besselsen
Assistant vice president of finance at Interlochen Center for the Arts.
About
On Day 3, Besselsen, Interlochen's assistant vice president of finance, authenticated donor correspondence and student records. The Court admitted correspondence concerning the scholarship lodge, a 1994 summer-camp application and an education-records report under seal, as well as a photograph of the lodge.
He testified that the education-records report showed arts-camp attendance from 1994 through 1996 and academy completion in 1999 and 2000 for people sharing the filtered last name. He also described Interlochen's ordinary retention of donor correspondence and student files.
On cross-examination, Besselsen said Interlochen had not provided records identifying who paid for the student's attendance and that he believed the institution did not have the pertinent older records. He also confirmed that some major donors attended final performances and that Mr. Epstein's lodge invitation coincided with the summer program's culmination.
