Juan Patricio Alessi

Juan Patricio Alessi testified for the government about his work at Jeffrey Epstein's Palm Beach residence from about 1990 through the end of 2002, including his eventual responsibility for household operations. He said Ghislaine Maxwell gave him daily instructions, described her as the "lady of the house," and maintained on cross-examination that she was his immediate superior even though Epstein owned the residence. He also authenticated diagrams used to explain the property.

His testimony covered household instructions and directories he associated with Maxwell, transportation of Jane and Virginia Roberts, and the scheduling of Epstein's massages. Alessi described arranging massage rooms, making some payments, keeping payment records, handling supplies that Maxwell provided, and cleaning up after some appointments. He also testified that he returned to the residence in 2004, took $6,300, and later repaid it under an agreement with Epstein.

Questions about household records produced separate foundation disputes. Alessi distinguished an undated booklet he remembered receiving from Exhibit 606, which was dated after his employment, and said he had discarded his own booklet and did not know how the exhibit was maintained after he left. The court admitted Exhibit 606 over a foundation objection. It required further foundation for his view that Exhibit 52 was a later version and later left that exhibit for further consideration after counsel conferred.

On cross-examination, defense counsel used earlier sworn testimony and a 2020 declaration to test Alessi's recollections of dates, people, household supervision, and how many times he took money from Epstein. Alessi acknowledged that he may have confused people and dates while maintaining his account of Maxwell's supervisory role. He also said no one complained to him of coercion and that he saw no injuries, limiting those statements to his own observations.
